I finish my windsor chairs with traditional milk paint colors made by The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company, of Groton, Massachusetts. I normally apply two or three colors, one on top of the other. This creates a wonderful marbleized look once the chair is dry and has been burnished with steel wool. My milk paint finishes are applied by hand, creating a beautiful textured look, which can not be matched by modern paints. After painting and burnishing, I coat all my chairs with linseed oil, as this seals the paint finish and adds an additional luster to the completed chair.
